About Ringside Insider

GusHi I'm Gus Petropulos, a sub-novice boxer, die-hard boxing fan and Ringside Insider's owner, webmaster and author.

I like action fights. My favorite boxing aphorism "styles make fights" is more truism than cliché. Boxer's boxing styles can either make a fight riveting or a chore to watch.

I like aggressive brawling styles. My all time favorite boxer is Antonio Margarito. He is a brawler. Margarito is single-mindedly aggressive and relentless. Attack is his best defense. He keeps moving forward throwing punches non-stop and can throw them for 12-rounds.

I like Ricky Hatton's boxing style too. He's what you call a swarmer or in-fighter. They are aggressive and relentless boxers who keep moving forward, smothering their opponents punches as they force their way inside making out-fighters who like to keep their distance feel really uncomfortable.

I also like punchers like Kelly Pavlik. Punchers can knock out their opponents in a few punches or a single blow if given the chance to land them flush like Pavlik did to Jermain Taylor. And of course old-school slick boxer-punchers like James Toney are among my favorites to watch.

If it were up to me back peddlers, dancers and runners who avoid contact and pitty-pat punchers who couldn't knock out a fighter with a glass chin wouldn't be able to get a license to box.
