About Ringside Insider
Hi I'm Gus, a sub-novice boxer, die hard boxing fan and Ringside Insider's owner, webmaster and author.
I like action fights. My favorite boxing aphorism "styles make fights" is more truism than cliché. Boxer's boxing styles can either make a fight riveting or a chore to watch.
I like Ricky Hatton's boxing style. He's what you call a swarmer or in-fighter. They are aggressive and relentless boxers who keep moving forward, smothering their opponents punches as they force their way inside making out-fighters who like to keep their distance feel really uncomfortable.
I like punchers too like Kelly Pavlik. Punchers can knock out their opponents in a few punches or a single blow if given the chance to land them flush like Pavlik did to Jermain Taylor. I also like boxer-punchers like Joe Calzaghe. Although they are out-fighters their punches deliver a wallop and they tend to win by knockout rather than by decision.
If it were up to me back peddlers, dancers and runners who avoid contact and pitty-pat punchers who couldn't knock out a fighter with a glass chin wouldn't be able to get a license to box.
